Soccer is making waves in the Marshall Islands, growing stronger with each passing week. The passion for the sport has been on full display as the country’s first Inter-Island Cup kicked off, bringing teams from Majuro, Kwajalein, and Ebeye for an exciting competition.

On February 22-23, 2025, Kwajalein hosted this historic tournament, marking a significant milestone in the development of soccer across the Marshall Islands.

Majuro’s top players traveled to compete in a tri-team futsal tournament, showcasing their skills and dedication to the game. Meanwhile, Ebeye, who started playing futsal in October, made an impressive debut!

While the teams eagerly awaited their custom jerseys, delays meant they would have to wait until the next edition to debut them!

The results from the first week of competition reflect the high level of play:

• Futsal: Majuro 7-4 Kwajalein

• 9v9: Majuro 2-2 Kwajalein

The focus of the Marshall Islands Soccer Federation remains on fostering young talent as teams continue to grow. While an Ebeye team wasn’t entered in the 9v9 matches this time, the decision was made with player development in mind, ensuring they have the right foundation for future competitions.

Beyond the competition itself, the tournament represents bringing the sport to more islands and communities across the islands, strengthening bonds between players, coaches, and fans! The energy and enthusiasm from players and fans alike made this tournament unforgettable.

As soccer continues to grow across the islands, so does the story of its development. We are thrilled to document this incredible journey with Anna Barbara Films as we create our upcoming docuseries on the Marshall Islands soccer journey, "The Last Team." Stay tuned for more updates, behind-the-scenes moments, and the next chapter in Marshall Islands soccer!
